diy {ikea hack hanging plant holder}

If it is easy and I can use supplies laying around my house, it is probably a DIY I will tackle between chopping vegetables and answering random kid questions. This project definitely falls in that category.

I have had the Skurar hanging planter from Ikea for a couple years now. It has been collected dust under my sink because I wasn’t sure where to hang it and I wasn’t crazy about the chain hanger it came with. After building our peg rail and shelf, I had the perfect place to display it – just needed to get rid of the chains.

This DIY took me less than ten minutes using supplies I had on hand. It isn’t elaborate or complicated, but it works!

Supplies:

  • Twine
  • Yarn
  • Wood beads

I added twine to two of the holes, looping it for added strength. I wanted it to hang at an angle, so I opted not to use all three holes (like pictured with the chains). After looping the twine, I added a couple wood beads to the top. Finally, I wrapped the top section of twine with yarn to give it just a bit of color. So easy.

It doesn’t get much easier than that. On a semi-related note, my blog now automatically adds suggested posts below new ones. Since it has been so long since I’ve done regular DIY posts, the ones it suggests are pretty old…which is funny to me to look back on!
