a painting for the kitchen - Ashley Ann Campbell

a painting for the kitchen

When we cut down the backyard sycamore tree I was constantly asked, “So, what will you rename your blog?” It never dawned on me to rename it. We do have 2 more sycamores in the front of the house, so technically we are still kind of ‘under the sycamore’.

That being said, our sycamore was very dear to our family. We have a decade of memories under that tree. As I thought about ways to incorporate the sycamore into our addition (besides using the wood), I landed on a painting.

I designed the range hood to have a flat front for the purpose of hanging a painting of our sycamore on it. That was the easy part.

Finding the right painter – so much harder. Most of my favorite artists do not do commission work. I am pretty set on the type of painting I want and the colors I want it to use. It is looking like I am going to need to paint it myself. I thought it would be fun to share with you some of my inspiration. If you know a painter of a similar style, please let me know!

  1. Carrie Shryock 2. Colleen Elizabeth 3. Jess Franks 4. Heather Martin 5. Lulie Wallace 6. R. K. Peterson

Bright. Colorful. A bit modern. A bit abstract. A bit impressionist. I’m not sure I’ll be able to create what I have in mind, but it will definitely be fun to try!
