Sheetrock is up! - Ashley Ann Campbell

Sheetrock is up!

We are 3 months into our renovation/addition/house is a total wreck project. I miss my oven and having a clean house, but all that is so mall compared to the excitement for what is ahead. It has definitely been an all-hands on deck last couple of months. Hudson keeps telling me if we had a tree he could totally build an amazing treehouse on his own with all the scraps. He probably could.

Most of the time things look really professional around here…and then sometimes they don’t…

Where the back door used to be, we added an arch to lead into the new kitchen. This is the view from the new kitchen into the living room. Also…we got sheetrock last week!
This is nearly the same perspective of the upstairs a few weeks apart. We took out two walls upstairs. The view out the window in the stairwell used to be of the sycamore. One of the contractors came in to see all the kids, my dad, Chris and I working on various things. He commented, “Wow, its really a family affair around here!”

My dad is helping me with pretty much all the finishing work. After a little vent work on the range hood frame, he added my range. My actual GE range from Wayfair complete with pancakes, bacon, eggs, sausage, and cookies in the oven. Someday. Someday.Chris and I will be installing all the wood flooring upstairs and downstairs. I am not super excited about doing it ourselves, but we will save $1000s of dollars. Also, I ordered some sweet knee pads from Amazon, so I am good to go!The old kitchen is now a built in bookcase, a pantry, a desk nook, and a HVAC closet.

We’ve made a ton of progress in three months. We have no idea how long it will take to finish since Chris is acting as the general contractor and along with my dad we are doing most of the finishing work ourselves. We are focusing on completing the kitchen first as it is the heart of our home and daily life. I can’t wait to be able to cook in the same room that my refrigerator is located (currently fridge is in the trailer by the chicken coop). Good times ahead!

The older boys start school this week and the rest start in 2 weeks. I have no idea how I will be able to do any of the work on the house while homeschooling and running SnapShops. No idea. Minor panic attack and tears come if I think about it for too long.

Thankfully, I have my dad and Chris!
