DIY {doily cork coasters}

1109coasters-06

My coffee table consists of 4 wood tables built by my dad. It is one of the only pieces of furniture that I pay close attention to protecting it from water…we don’t have much that water will hurt. I am constantly in need of coasters since the ones I do have often get turned into rafts for Lego Men. This is another project using paper doilies, cork and Mod Podge!

Supplies: paper doiles, ribbon, Mod Podge, cork coasters, Acrylic spray (waterproof kind, clear) – ignore the white paint, I was originally going to paint the cork using the doilies to trace.

Cut the doily edges off. Attach doily to cork using Mod Podge. Hot glue ribbon (just a little glue). Cover several times with Mod Podge. Spray with a waterproof sealer lightly as a final step. The sealer doesn’t have to be thick…just enough to cover the Mod Podge so it doesn’t get sticky when wet. I only did Mod Podge on the doily and ribbon….I did not cover my whole coaster with Mod Podge. 1109coasters-04Tie together to make a cute gift…
