cleaning my desk {it took a while}
To say my desk needed organizing would be a massive understatement. I have habit of not using gifts until I write a thank you note – I have started this habit because of all the thank you notes that have slipped through the cracks recently. So, my desk was full of lots of really fun stuff from friends and others. It took an hour and a half of organizing, but totally worth it.
While cleaning, I decided to snap some pics of my goodies to share here…you could also call that distracting myself. It works. Most of these were gifts from friends, not from the actual stores.
Clockwise from top left: tea towel from Geo, a box of goodies and trim from Amanda, print from Fancy That Design House, tea towel in a berry box from Anthropologie & Perpetual calendar from 1Caneo2 (they based this off my perpetual calendar diy!), Monogram watercolor from Emily; Center – journal from Target
Clockwise from top left: “Family Tree” paper cut from Our Humble Abode, thoughtful book from a friend, Worry print from KatyGirl Designs, clutch from Jenna Lou Designs, Instagram book from Printrbook, Center: vintage school book from Sparrow Mercantile on Instagram
Clockwise from top left: Minnesota Hot Dish tea towel – I am not sure where this is from, but it makes me smile. My friend Jenna and I were talking about casseroles. She told me in Minnesota they are called Hot Dishes. I told her I might like them more if I called them Hot Dishes instead of casseroles. Then she sent me this towel, makes me laugh every time I see it. Gift tags from Raising Up Rubies, necklace from Uganda Community Action Project, Towels from My Little Dear Kids, wood rooster stamp from a friend Center: my friend Thuy sent me a surprise fall package of colorful socks and a Starbucks card – such a cute idea!
While I was doing all that organizing, Little One came in carrying her visor from my friend Christen. This girl has entered the stage of wanting to dress herself. Evidently she got into her sister’s pajama drawer and dressed herself in this outfit (I helped her with the visor, she did the rest).
This is her pointing to the chickens trying to get in the room.
And her version of signing “chicken”.
“I love you,” to her big sister.
And as soon as I got it cleared off, FireCracker made her way over to decorate my thank you cards. She looks so grown up here.
It will look like this for a few hours at least.
An organized desk makes me happy. There is still a bit of clutter to work through, but overall I can look at my desk and not feel anxious. All that cleared off space makes me feel relaxed. Yay for organization…now to tackle the girls closet!
