thinking about a year ago

My mind is somewhere else this week.

One year ago today I boarded a plane to China to meet my daughter.

I was reading the post I wrote for this day last year….these lines jumped from the screen.

Would you dare, would you dare to believe

that you still got a reason to sing?

‘Cause the pain that you’ve been feeling

It can’t compare to the joy that’s coming

So hold on, you gotta wait for the light

Press on and just fight the good fight

‘Cause the pain you’ve been feeling

It’s just the hurt before the healing

Oh, the pain that you’ve been feeling

It’s just the dark before the morning

~ Josh Wilson, Before the Morning lyrics

I was such a hot mess this time last year. Saying goodbye to two of my kids, boarding that plane, finally on my way to my girl. A big hot mess. I couldn’t have imagined the joy about to come into my life. I couldn’t have dreamed of the healing and restoration that would take place. The weight of what this day a year ago felt like is heavy today, it is so vivid in my memory, so overwhelming….and yet, I know Monday is coming too. One year together. I can’t believe it.

In other totally random news….

Yesterday, I asked you guys to share the ways your moms fostered great relationships with you. I AM SO THANKFUL I ASKED! Thank you for sharing your stories. Your hurts. Your joys. Your moms. There were also so many other great pieces of advice and practical ideas to help foster close relationships. If you have time, I’d highly recommend reading the comments from yesterday.

Then if you’d like, Kelli & Vanessa’s shared an interview with me today on their blog…you can click here to read it. I am so humbled and honored they asked me to be a part of their series highlighting moms.
