Yesterday

Yesterday.

Yesterday my niece came to visit. We got out nail polish and super hero tattoos.

Yesterday, I took pictures of my five year old across the table. He was in his summer attire of shorts only. It saves laundry time, I’m good with it. Yesterday, he looked small and grown up all at the same time.

Yesterday I was reminded how my daughter loves the approval and affirmation of her big brothers. She’s fiercely independent and strong, but still has the tender heart of a little sister who adores her big brothers.

Yesterday I didn’t feel like cutting out individual tattoos, so we stuck the whole sheet on her arm. Made her day. It washes off.

Yesterday I watched my youngest feed her babies. And I was in awe of her.

Yesterday I watched my boys gather around her to help her dish out pretend doll food. I watched with a full heart as they played to help her overcome her fears and pains related to food.

Yesterday was normal. Busy. Loud. Spills. Picking up. Laundry. Dishes. Exhaustion. 2 cups of coffee. And in the midst of all the things that seemed to drag me down – there was great beauty. Yesterday I watched and I saw it.
