my naturalist
My kids, like all kids, are so different. Sometimes it amazes me how they can all have the same parents raising them. It is beautiful actually. My oldest is enamored with technology, atomic energy, biographies about presidents, Einstein, the basics of electricity, etc. His younger brother is all things nature. He is the reason we have a cat. He is the reason will be adding more animals to our mix soon.
The boys previously had an orange & gray room decorated with a ‘flying’ theme. Now they are older and are taking more defined interests unique to their personalities. They share a room, which makes decorating a challenge. So, I am not trying to figure out how to make their room ‘look good’, I am focusing more on how to encourage and bring out those things that are uniquely each of them.
This is his corner….his haven in our crazy house.
Everything is hung either by a nail or Command strips.
He wanted a couple of his field guides handy. I was looking for a little basket to mount to the wall, but couldn’t find one and he was growing impatient. So, I used Command strips to mount a napkin holder to the wall. It doesn’t stick out far and holds just the right amount of books.
Some of his favorite books. He has tons more, but I didn’t feel like searching for them!
I’m always trying to find ways that we can do things together that I enjoy and that continue to flame his interests. (bird Paint-By-Number from Target)
We have been working to keep birds around out back. This little area has all he needs for bird watching: binoculars, his camera, bird books and bird pages from old books to help him identify new birds that come around. The feather print is from Katy Girl Designs.
I even ordered Owl Puke….one more way into my little man’s heart. (got it from Amazon)
Some of the bones we found in the pellet…there were MANY more. It was gross and completely interesting at the same time!
He will do something great in the nature realm one day.
