when they surprise you
My older boys are playing flag football.
It has been great football weather.
Little One has been totally content and happy with a few toys on the sidelines (and a bunch of loving attention from lots of friends & family).
FireCracker is usually running crazy with friends or entertained by her Pappy (my dad).
Sometimes happy with friends. Other times grumpy. This was a grumpy day.
This is the first time the boys have played flag football. It has been surprisingly fun. I do think flag football has got to be harder than tackle. Those little flags seem so hard to grab. If I were playing I’d much rather tackle someone than pull a flag! Based on a handful of years parenting these boys, I was pretty sure my oldest would enjoy it.
And he does. But, not nearly as much as I thought he would.
His little brother, on the other hand, has surprised me.
He only agreed to play because two of his buddies were playing too.
And out of no where my little guy has developed a heart for the game…and he is quick on his feet. He doesn’t make a million touchdowns. He doesn’t pull the most flags. But just when I thought I knew him, he surprised me. Goodness, being a mom is quite possibly the best adventure.
I am so very proud of my boys. And I am going to miss football in the fall when it ends. I will not miss the mouth guards.
