laughing in a pile of balloons - Ashley Ann Campbell

laughing in a pile of balloons

Day 32.
Waiting. Waiting. Waiting for our official approval to adopt our Little One.
The wait is hard.
The wait feels much longer than 32 days.

Thankfully, when the wait feels too hard – I have a hubby that brings laughter and fun to our home. Our church had a massive ‘barn’ created out of balloons on Sunday. When the balloons were being popped on Monday, he nabbed some to fill up the boys’ room (the one in process of being redecorated). To say they were thrilled would be an understatement. He’s a great dad.

Balloons are instant happy. A room full of balloons and beds all smashed together…well that is just happy. One of the many things my kids teach me is how to find pure delight in something very simple. Whether it is a caterpillar scooting across the picnic table or room full of balloons, they soak it all up. Sometimes I let life get too stressful and complicated. I forget how easy it is to laugh and just be in a moment without concern for anything else. I worry, despite the fact I know worry won’t add a single day to my life or change anything. When my kids were laughing in all those balloons, that is all their little minds focused on…fully delighting in that simple moment.  I want to be more like my kids.
