Rooster Days Parade {a yearly repeat} - Ashley Ann Campbell

Rooster Days Parade {a yearly repeat}

I wore a fleece jacket on Saturday. That is just wrong. It is May…it is supposed to be jeans and t-shirt weather. Not fleece. Every year we go to the Rooster Days parade….here is us back as a little family of three. Seems like forever ago. It makes me sad I can’t remember much about my oldest back then.

The Rooster Days parade is my favorite parade because it is typically warm. We usually sit in shorts and sunglasses – both of which I like. The parade isn’t really all that impressive, but when you attend it with young kids they think it is fun. It has very small town local feeling – which I also like. Lots of people just walking holding posters. This year there was a group of realtors walking in matching shirts. That was a bit odd to me, but hey maybe their walking helped boost the local housing market. Who am I to judge parade walking realtors?

Her hot pink cast is starting to look mauve from the dirt…time to bring on the sharpies.

Leading the parade each year is the BlueBell ice cream truck. 1000s of free mini ice cream sandwiches are passed out. Chris used to work for BlueBell…I really liked visiting him at work back then.

After about an hour the parade ends with horses. Lots of horses.

The boys watch the horses waiting intently for ONE THING. They know it will happen, so they wait and watch.

This year it happened directly in front of us. We got the extra parade perk of smelling the aroma. The parade was a success.

And following close behind the horses is the cleanup crew. And one more Rooster Day parade comes to a close.

Happy Monday….may it be all you hope it will.
