decorating with posters
This wall has been a long time struggle to figure out for me. It is pretty big and a focal point in the kitchen. I added the peg rail to break up the space 2 years ago. Then a year later painted half the wall pink. I just couldn’t figure out what to do on the shelf. I knew I wanted lots of color, but not busy – enter a collaboration with the Poster Store.
There are hundreds of posters to choose from – it can be overwhelming! I thought I would walk you through the process of how I picked out mine.
Step 1: I decided a color theme I wanted to stick with and began putting all the ones I liked with those colors in my cart (just to keep them organized). I opted for a diverse collection of prints, words, photos with the common theme of being in the same color group.
Step 2: I pulled the images from my shopping cart into Photoshop to see them all together
Step 3: I narrowed down my favorites and played with what they would look like in different groupings and different sizes to decide which to order.
For frames I had a hard time finding the right size for a couple – that were in my under $15 frame price range. I ended up trimming the border to make them fit in the larger frames.
I filled the shelf with posters and simple black frames (and one self-portrait by Hudson). I laughed a little at myself for some of the ones I picked knowing a couple of my kids would probably give me a hard time, but you know what – I like them and they make me smile!
