3 weeks of celebrating – so many cakes!
The end of June and early July are marked by back to back celebrations. We start with Father’s Day, then a few days later Chris’ birthday. Fast forward a couple days and it is our youngest’s birthday and then the 4th of July. Finally we wrap up with my eldest daughter’s birthday.
All that celebrating meant our resident baker was loving life and I was grateful I am on Team Cookies instead of Team Cakes!
She made a galaxy cake using a tutorial from Sugar & Sparrow for Chris’ 40th birthday. Her little sister requested the same kind of cake – only she wanted it colorful on the inside and topped with legos. Mission accomplished.
Next up the 4th of July. She and her uncle had a baking day and made sure our family was completely covered in the dessert department. I requested a cookie cake and it did not disappoint.
She also made a Strawberry Lemonade cake based off one by Sugar and Sparrow. We got in a time crunch on that one, so her cakes didn’t cool enough..and the buttercream didn’t harden enough. Lesson learned.
