Floral stair mural
I decided to paint another wall.
This wall in particular has gone through the following phases in the last 13 years:
Off white paint (move in color)
Terracotta paint (didn’t last long – it wasn’t a good phase)
Black Chalkboard paint
Corkboard tiles and wallpaper
….and now a big floral mural…
who knows what will be next!
I had paint left over from the breezeway, so I just used it. The design is loosely based off a painting I did about 16 years ago that was inspired by an Amy Butler fabric. I initially planned on just doing the section by the stairs and leaving the wallpaper, but then I decided it was a little too busy for me. I sorta sketched the design, but really I just started painting. There were plenty of areas I went back to fix and change as I went.
My house is always changing. Here is a comparison of the chalkboard paint phase to the new mural.
And this is what the area looked like when we moved in verses now.
Paint is one of my favorite ways to change things up. I mean if I don’t like it – all I have to do is repaint, which I do often! Its probably good that we will be starting school back up in a month because who knows how many more murals I’d decide to paint otherwise!
If you want to see a time lapse of the first section, I posted it in an IGTV. Click here to see it.
