breezeway {done…until I decide to change it}
We are still finishing up the construction we started almost 3 years ago. When we added onto the house, we connected the new kitchen to our studio space. The plans to connect the spaces were drawn up about 8 years ago. After the main construction was finished the breezeway just became a catch all for shoes, animal junk, tools…basically anything people didn’t want to take the time to pick up!
Over quarantine I spent hours painting the breezeway. The space is really hard to photograph – I think it looks a lot better in person. Anyway – I didn’t really have a set plan. I found a gorgeous plate by Margaret Jeane at Freckled Hen Farmhouse (see below) and loosely went from there. I probably should have sketched a design on the walls before painting it, but I didn’t!
As far as colors, I used wall paint and went with colors that matched the kitchen runner. I went with light pink for the background to make the space still fill big.
Now the question is….”How long will I leave it?”
There are spots I don’t like – mainly when I see them in pictures. I’ll probably try fixing those this summer. However, I did start another mural in the house. Someone will probably need to take away my paint brushes soon.
During quarantine I recorded time lapse videos of the entire process – with all the mistakes, frustrations, and details (like paint names). The floors ended up being a huge mess and frustration! If you want to see the process and more details, you can click on this link to my Instagram page (you can view on your computer without and instagram account). Under my name you will see some circles. One says “Breezeway” – click on that you can you see it all!
