photos to treasure {SnapShop}
One of the fun parts of growing up – of being an adult – is seeing things come full circle and relationships come back into your life. A few decades ago when I was a gymnast one of my coaches was Maggie Mckenney. She choreographed my floor routines, pushed me on beam, and was a constant source of encouragement and joy in the gym.
This is Maggie and I many, many years ago:
When I first began dabbling in photography I remember talking to her on the phone and asking about lenses. I was so confused on what lens to buy and what they do…why were there so many different options?! A seasoned and talented photographer Maggie coached me again – giving me pointers and tips as I began in photography.
Over the last several years as I followed Maggie on Instagram I found myself looking forward to her posts on her adult kids and her mom. I am terrible at photographing adults. I worry that they are uncomfortable in front of the camera or I am concerned they will get upset if I take their picture. Maggie’s photos of her mom remind me how important it is to take pictures of my parents.
All that to say – I asked Maggie if I could interview her for a SnapShop lesson. Thankfully, she agreed. In her interview she shares about the photos she treasures of her kids when they were little, how she approaches photographing them now, and the importance of capturing her 88 year old mom.
