in recent days…
After another long break…I’m back. I’ve obviously gotten out of the habit of blogging regularly! Last time I shared pictures from Instagram several of you told me you liked that I posted them here because you are staying off social media.
So…here are a few of my favorite recent Instagram posts from my personal account…ones I want to look back on here too! They are a lot of Hudson – for no particular reason!
He thinks it is weird and funny that I deem him doing Latin as something photo worthy. One day he might be a dad and understand why when I pull my camera out it almost always settles on him or his siblings…my greatest adventures.

That time your Aunt Lesley celebrates her racing victory over you by putting it on a mug for your 15th birthday.

We pulled into the Geography Bee parking lot and I just laughed. I sent a couple friends a text about how I was watching other parents walk in with students dressed in matching Geo Bee shirts looking so nice and I was about to walk in with Willie Nelson. This kid.
________
He called me outside to show me his new skill. Back flips are an ‘all-in’ thing. You can’t half way try one or you are sure to get hurt – we talk about that a lot in our house. I asked what made him decide he could do it and go for it. He grinned, “I wanted to try Friday night, but then I thought about how Saturday was my birthday and if I broke something or ended up in the hospital on my birthday that would stink.” So he waited for Sunday.
His response made me smile incredibly big. Calculated risk taking – I’m all for it and it made me beam to hear him think through the risk, delay it for the right time, and still go for it. Being a parent is so stinkin’ fun! Welcome to the teen years Hudson – what way to start off 13.

What-ever.
Prepped via a crimper for 80s Day at our homeschool co-op. 10 minutes after I taught her “what-ever” I asked her to pick something up. She turned to me, flashed a W with her hands and said, “What-ever” – then giggled and picked it up. Immediate regret over teaching her slang. I like totally should have thought through it first. Ugh. What-ever.
________
I decided to take down the mug rack – still trying to figure out our new space. After rummaging around the house (determined to use what I already I had), I ended up dumping the kids art supply crates out and attaching them to the wall. There are a lot of ‘rules’ and strong opinions about home design, but at the end of the day most are really just someone’s preference. I fall in the camp of – if it’s your home and it makes you smile – that’s all that really matters. Old 7Up crates make me smile.
