my reed & lily pad {The Little Mermaid Jr.} - Ashley Ann Campbell

my reed & lily pad {The Little Mermaid Jr.}

After months of build up, my girls made their musical theatre debuts over the weekend. With a few friends and their cousins, they joined with other Classical Conversation homeschoolers in our area for a production of The Little Mermaid, Jr.

Chris spent his high school years on the stage in musicals, but this was all a new experience for me. While the girls were working on one show, Hudson has been in another production with a different group. This is his show week…things are a little intense in the driving to all the practices realm around here!

This was the girls’ first show and my first time to put make-up on someone else. You can tell by my changing hair and the adding of reading glasses that things got a little intense! I don’t know how to do my own make-up, let alone stage make-up on two little girls! Good thing my mom got the girls all that play make-up.

I can do hair (you wouldn’t know by my own, but trust me). The girls were required to wear their hair in tight braided buns. I figured a little “Mermaid Hair” spray was a perfect addition for getting ready for The Little Mermaid. (Mermaid hair is made up of water, witch hazel, and the essential oils cedarwood/lavendar/rosemary).Showtime! Between my sister and I we had an anemone, red fish, reed, lily pad, and a lightning bug. The team that created the costumes did an incredible job. Every costume had creative and custom details. It was incredibly impressive!Rachel Babcock Photography did cast photos – her photos look much better than they do here…these are just phone snaps of my 8x10s, so I could share them with you.

That little ballerina pose and the sweet smile on my reed – oh my goodness, they are so cute!

That is a wrap for The Little Mermaid.

Now onto Annie!

And speaking of these sisters….these old posts have my heart…any make me feel incredibly grateful.
