DIY {customized canisters} - Ashley Ann Campbell

DIY {customized canisters}

My whole house is pretty much a DIY project right now, but I figured I’d another one to the pot. Actually, I was hoping to avoid a DIY canister project for our baking goods, but I couldn’t find any canisters that fit what I was wanting.

I knew I needed glass canisters because the kitchen is super white and seeing how much is in each canister helps me know when to restock. I found tons of super cute ones online, but most I liked were white.

I finally found some simple glass ones with wood lids at Target, but I wanted to add a little something to them. Enter knobs from Hobby Lobby.
Supplies:

  • Canisters from Target
  • Knobs from Hobby Lobby (watch for them to be 50% off)
  • Drill with bit the size of the knob screw
  • Something to cut the screw (we used a grinder)

There are basically two steps: Drill a hole in the center of the lid. Attach the knob. Cut the extra length from the screw.

The knobs go down into the circle cut out of the lid. You could get bigger knobs to cover the opening (like I did on the large canister). I was going more for look than function, so the knobs worked find for me. I just pop the lids off.

Now if only the rest of the house could be finished as fast!
