where we rest {an Article Sven Giveaway!} - Ashley Ann Campbell

where we rest {an Article Sven Giveaway!}

Remember back when I had a living room?

Those were the good ole’ days. Just kidding…that space will return eventually. Just a couple of months before we started construction, I posted about our Article Sven Sofa and my initial review. The review was 5 stars in every way.

Well….life has changed and our sofa has endured quite a bit. Article recently asked me if I would be willing to share an updated review now that we have truly lived with the sofa for a few months. I made sure to warn that the sofa was no longer located in a cute living room and was actually functioning as our only piece of indoor furniture for the last 4-5 months!

When Chris and I had to move out of our bedroom, we slept in the living room for about a month. You can see in the photo below, the sofa was the primary location Hudson picked to do homework. At first was I was super concerned about the kids on a leather couch, but I knew I had to let that go…we are a family with lots of kids!We held out moving the furniture out of the living room for as long as possible. As we tore down the back wall of the house, the living room filled with dust and dirt…we definitely haven’t treated the sofa with white gloves!Once things got too messy in the construction zone, we knew we had to move the sofa (and all things that were not indestructible!) to safe zones….which was basically our girls’ room or boxes. Surprisingly, the Sven Sofa was a perfect fit under the girls’ loft bed. My dad had just finished building the bed and the long term plan is each girl will get a side under the loft for her own space. However, until then the sofa fits like it was made for the space.

The girls have asked if they can keep it, but once the living room is back…I want the sofa back!It is currently the place we read, watch movies, do computer work, fold laundry…and pile on to catch up from the day. I don’t have photos to prove it, but we can easily fit at least 5 of us on it.The girls’ room (the old master) is the only room in the house that is not under some form of construction. Since it is the only dust-free zone, it is where we all tend to hang out during the day. That being said, since the sofa is getting lots of use…it is where I work, where the kids do some school, where we retreat to if we need to hide from the mess. Not related to the sofa, but notice the photo hanging above them in the shot below. It was taken a couple days after our youngest daughter came home. Her big sister couldn’t handle being away from her, so she packed a snack in a ziplock bag and watched her new little sister take a nap in my bedroom…the same room that is now their bedroom.When Article asked about an updated review, I laughed a little knowing that my review would be one from the perspective of a mom with a house full of kids that are not ‘easy’ on the sofa. Case in point…the downside (or upside) of the sofa being moved under her bed means it is also under her pull-up bar. She takes full advantage of this set-up! If you can’t tell, we are still huge fans of the Sven sofa. It has endured construction, a large family, a cat, a dog, and lots of visitors like a champ. There have been a few scratches and marks (you can faintly see two dots on the leather in the shot below). Our dog actually threw up on it one early morning (panic on my part), but it cleaned easily and didn’t leave a stain!

We haven’t been intentionally hard on it, but life in our home means it is going to get really lived on. I have been incredibly thrilled with how the couch frame, cushions, legs, and leather have held up. It is still the most comfortable seat in our house.  Part of the reason I jumped on doing an updated review is I know how difficult it can be to pick furniture out online and how hard big families (and kids in general) can be on furniture. I wanted to throw my review in the mix as someone that doesn’t use the sofa sparingly or only with adults.

We waited for a leather couch until our kids were older, which I do think was a wise decision for our family. When we finish the game room, we will be looking for a large couch to go in there – a Sven sectional is definitely my first choice!

Overall, we have been thrilled with our Sven Sofa and I am still giving it a strong 5 stars in every area (this is not a paid post either ;)) Because I am still such a fan of my Article furniture, I also jumped on the chance to give one away to one of you!
