the wonder of childhood - Ashley Ann Campbell

the wonder of childhood

I’m catching up on pictures from our summer. Once upon a time I was about a day behind on this blog. Really, I would post images from the day that night for a post the next morning. It was my creative outlet and a way to reflect on the day. Now I get up too early and have zero brain energy left at night! So…I am not quite as on top of timely posting.

Anyway – we took a short trip to Montana to see family. On the way, we stopped by Crested Butte, Colorado to visit Chris’ sister and her family. They have boys that are in between the ages of my boys, so it is tons of fun.

It doesn’t hurt that a river literally runs through their backyard. We took advantage of the river and their paddle boards for two days. On the second evening I watched the kids and their cousins play “King of the Hill (Paddleboard).” Their loud, rambunctious screams and laughs carried across the frigid Colorado water.

I watched for while, smiling and wondering what the neighbors thought of the not-so-peaceful evening. It wasn’t until the sun began to set and the warm glow filled the valley that I recognized I was witnessing the wonder of childhood.

Speaking of cousins and childhood…look at the post below “Little One and her Cousin” – so tiny!
