Article Sven Sofa {my review} - Ashley Ann Campbell

Article Sven Sofa {my review}

For a little over a month now we have been napping, reading, movie watching, and all around enjoying our new Article sofa. Ordering anything online can be a bit scary – especially something as big as a sofa! Though this review post is a partnership with Article, like any customer I had the opportunity to return the sofa if it was not all I hoped for.

As you already know – we did not return our Sven Charme Tan Sofa! I was nervous about having furniture without a slip cover (hello 5 kids, 1 cat and a dog!), but I am so glad we took the leap.

When I first posted about our sofa a few weeks ago, I asked you what questions you had about Article furniture and my experience. I’m going to do my best to answer those here with my honest feedback.

Is it comfortable?

YES! It isn’t stiff, but very soft – like a down cushion. My only negative is the arguments over who gets it for movie nights! I can comfortably lay next to one kid on it – and since I am only 5’1″ I can lay completely straight if I want to on it. Short girl perks. What is the fabric version like?

I have no idea, but if I didn’t already have a green floral couch I would have ordered the Sven Grass Green Sofa. It is SO PRETTY!

Will it look deflated/wrinkly with time?

I don’t have a personal experience for this answer since ours is so new. I will say once I posted a picture to Instagram I received numerous private messages from those that own the Sven Sofa and told me I will love it. The feedback from previous owners makes me feel pretty confident I am going to continuing loving it in the future as much as I do now.

How durable is it? Does it stain?

Honestly, ours is still so new it is hard to answer just yet in regards to stains. I do worry about scratches, but that is because I am new to leather furniture. The leather has natural imperfections, which makes it beautiful and makes me less stressed over messing up a pristine finish. I imagine like all leather if I spill coffee on it, it will stain. It will get a natural patina with time and use. I’m guessing that patina process will be accelerated in a house where it gets so much use like ours! As far as durability goes, it has already endured being landed on in wrestling matches and dove onto during hide-and-seek. I’ve got a good feeling it is going to hold up well against my crew.

How do we keep the cat from scratching it?

She actually hasn’t tried. She likes upholstery, so the leather is not very attractive to her. I’m making a mental note that all future furniture needs to be leather now!

Do we let our dog on it?

No. We have a beagle. She is sweet, but she sheds. I don’t let her on any of the furniture, but the kids try sneaking her on. We made an agreement that she can be on her towel on the green couch. I don’t want her on the leather one because I do worry about her nails scratching it. Give it a few months and the kids will break me down and you’ll see the dog on the leather sofa.

How was it packaged? Was there any damage?

It arrived in a huge box without the legs attached. The box was surprisingly light. Once I opened the box, the legs were wrapped in bubble wrap inside a plastic bag. Everything was well wrapped and protected, so there was no damage. Assembly took about 2 minutes – just screwing the legs into the base. The legs are tapered, but very sturdy. They are a lot like the legs my dad made for our other sofa. We have not had any cracked legs on either sofa.

Where is the furniture made?

Vietnam, Indonesia, China, and India. You can find out more about manufacturing and the companies used by visiting the Article FAQ page.

Can you return it?

Yes, just make sure you keep the box! Article offers a 30 day return, but you will need to ship it back in the original packaging and will need to pay the return shipping fee.

My tips for selecting a piece:

If you are considering an Article purchase, I HIGHLY recommend reading the reviews on each product and looking at customer photos. At the bottom of each product page you can find reviews and photos. These helped me in deciding which couch to pick. I found the reviews to be very accurate and the photos gave me a better idea of the sizes and colors of different products.

Would I order from Article again?

Absolutely. A few pieces that catch my eye are: the Arca Driftwood Gray Sofa (for outside), 2 Taiga Coffee Tables (I think combining 2 would be a great living room table option), and the Ansa Blush Pink Bench (for anywhere!). I could keep going 😉

We’ve gotten so many compliments from friends who stop by our house. The size is the perfect fit for our space and the color is just right. It looks like it was always meant to be there…and it passed the kid-approval test, so that is a pretty big deal around here.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me.
