Double Digit Getaway {v. 3 Fritz’s Adventure}

Another double digit birthday took place in our house! All my boys are out of the single digits and it feels both strange and normal. I so look forward to our trips to celebrate. One on one time (or in this case two on one time) is very rare – and very treasured.

For his Double Digit Getaway with Chris and I, my youngest son picked a trip to Branson – starting with Fritz’s Adventure. I am not sure who was the most excited – the birthday boy, his dad or his mom! If it has the word “Adventure” in its name, we know it is going to suit us well.

Fritz’s Adventure is an indoor adventure attraction. Think things to climb on, slide down, crawl up, and duck under. As soon as we walked in, he wanted to try scaling the city wall. When he was halfway up, I ran upstairs to get better shots. Heights, obviously, don’t bother him.There were several sections to the wall and it was open for adult and kid climbers. (Chris is on the left and my son is on the right in the left picture below.)There is also an MASSIVE ropes course. They release climbers in groups (like a heat) and you can go any direction you want until your group time is up. I could barely keep up with him just watching from below.Also part of the ropes course is a zipline – a crowd favorite!We each attempted the warped walls. I actually only tried once because there were people around watching. I just kept picturing myself getting stuck at the top with my booty hanging over the edge and the crowd behind me. I have issues with people watching me try new stuff – Chris does not. I am sure many of you are raising kids a lot like me. All I can say is – encourage us to try, but if we really don’t want to in front of a crowd, let it go and keep loving us 😉

Next time I might get my nerve up to try again. I’ll send my kids to make a big distraction the opposite direction and then I’ll make a go for it.

There was so much more inside, but I was climbing on it instead of taking pictures of it. We spent a good amount of time in the laser rooms doing ninja jumps over lasers and scoring pretty high if I do say so myself. I will warn other adults – if you try going down the huge spiral slide, you might regret it. I got myself flipped around and nearly came down head first. The kids made it look so easy!

We visited in the middle of the week and the amount of people was just right for us. We did have to wait in line for the wall climb and ropes course – I have no idea what a weekend or high traffic visit would be like.

My son had an incredible time, but my favorite part was definitely getting to be in such a fun environment with my attention solely on him. Such a gift!

Fritz’s Adventure posts deals online all the time, there are special homeschool days, and I just saw they host DATE NIGHTS (adults get the place to themselves). Chris and I would totally do a date night there if we lived closer!
