Motherhood Session {8 year old} - Ashley Ann Campbell

Motherhood Session {8 year old}

Part 5 of my Motherhood Session with Jessie

When we were expecting our fourth everyone else seemed to assume we wanted a girl. After three boys there was just this mentality from others that we wouldn’t want another little guy running around the house. It drove me bonkers. Each time I heard, “You are finally getting your girl!” I would cringe and wanted to remind people that three little boys were listening too – and I LOVED HAVING BOYS. As much as I would have relished another little guy in the family – goodness did having a daughter turn out to be the greatest surprise!

She has a few of her daddy’s traits – namely his love of performing – but in most other ways she is my ‘mini-me’. I will be forever grateful to Jessie for capturing our relationship in this season where she is still a little girl, but edging closely to the pre-teen years.

Thank heavens for little boys…and little girls!

She likes to plan, organize, and be in charge. She decided we needed to end the day with me dressed up holding a sign she made…Isn’t it a gift how our kids see the best in us? There are a million other things that sign could say. She could list all my faults and shortcomings. She could list all the things I am not and all the things I don’t do. Instead, she wrote how she feels. If only I could feel about my mothering the way she feels. Children and their love are such an incredible gift.
