how they interact

Winter felt so long this year. I’m hoping the cold days are behind us now. Over the weekend, we spent time at my aunt & uncle’s house fishing and eating.  I’m not particularly a fan of fishing (unless it is fly fishing), but I am fan of watching my kids do it with their grandpas and uncles.

This picture of my dad and almost all of his granddaughters is one of my favorites. The girls all look so tiny – they are all about a year apart in age. Also, it is another example of how my sister and I either dress alike or dress our kids alike without realizing it.4.14fishing-6

My grandpa and my baby girl – this picture makes me all kinds of happy.4.14fishing-8

And my grandma and my girl – again, all kinds of happy.4.14fishing-94.14fishing-11

Fishing in a tutu, of course. She went on a date with her dad earlier in the day; she asked me to straighten her hair.4.14fishing-12While they fished, I enjoyed playing with my camera. I’m working at being more intentional in photographing my extended family in photos. We are around each other quite a bit, but I don’t always capture how everyone interacts. The interactions between those I love are among my favorite moments. I want my kids to be able to look back one day and see how much their grandparents, great grandparents, aunts and uncles enjoyed being with them. It is a pretty spectacular thing.
