Little One’s smoothie recipes {or lack of} - Ashley Ann Campbell

Little One’s smoothie recipes {or lack of}

Many of you requested the recipes we’ve used for Little One’s smoothies. I was not ignoring your requests. We just don’t have any! Our ‘recipes’ consist of throwing any veggies and fruit we have on hand into the Vitamix with a few other things. After 6 months of smoothies (and burning some blender motors), we invested in a Vitamix. Originally, we the goal was to transition her off Chinese formula. We really just experimented with things. In the end, the goal was to keep the flavor and texture changing while getting her the nutrients she needed and sticking with mainly raw ingredients.

Since the goal was not to make a delicious smoothie every time – we never followed recipes for her smoothies.

Some key ingredients we have mixed and matched include:

  • spinach
  • kale
  • carrot
  • sweet potatoe
  • beets
  • banana
  • almond milk
  • frozen fruits (berries, mangoes, peaches, pineapple, etc.)
  • seasonal fruit
  • oatmeal
  • vegan protein powder
  • nut butters
  • yougurts

There are many other things we’ve thrown in – this is not an extensive list. Sometimes her smoothies tasted so good. Other times I was surprised she drank it! When we make smoothies for the whole family we usually use a recipe from the Vitamix cookbook. There are also tons of great recipes on Pinterest and we’ve tried a few that Tiffany Ruda has posted on Instagram.

These are in random order…just a handful of the many smoothie pictures I have shot.
