our weekend home
All three boys are playing flag football right now. FireCracker is a little anxious to be old enough to play. This is the first team sport our five year old has played. I love watching him out there. He isn’t very intense or competitive. Most of the time he lets the bigger and faster kids do all the running, but he is having fun. And I love that.
Mouthguards.
If you have dealt with them – you understand.
They are gross. And constantly misplaced. And constantly found where they should not be. I am trying to have a good attitude about them because I know they are probably just going to be part of life around here for a while. But – they make me crazy. I mean, do you really need them for baby teeth anyway? (totally joking!)
I shot all of the images below with my 70-200 f/2.8 lens. Originally I purchased the lens back when I shot weddings inside different venues. I needed a zoom lens that worked well in low light conditions. It is very expensive, but as a wedding photographer I used it tons. Now it is my very expensive sports lens. It is pretty big and I feel a little flashy on the sidelines. If you know me, I don’t like flashy. I try to be a little stealth with it…but sure am thankful I have it. It allows me to capture this part of their childhood in ways that I treasure.

When my boys are running with the ball, I get really loud. I am never loud. But, you give one of my sons the ball and I can yell with the best of them.

Chris coaches two of the teams. Awesome for him and the boys….not always so awesome for me on the sidelines with the other four. But, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love that he is an involved dad. He is a phenomenal coach. He is making a lot of memories with the boys (and one day the girls) out on football field, basketball courts and soccer fields. I cherish that. I will say, Saturday nights in our home are much better on winning days than losing days….4 men happy in the house is much nicer than the other way around!

Saturdays are long and the girls are such troopers.

My oldest played last in the day, which meant the girls were getting fussy and I couldn’t take as many pictures. I’ll have to get more next time, but I did capture his dive/cleat to the hand move – he likes this shot.
