Tulsa Blogger Meet-up
I told my sister I would pick her up.
But then we realized my vehicle is really big and would be quite hard to fit in the tiny trendy area of town parking spots.
We took her car.
We parked and I said, “We could just turn around and go back to your house. I’m okay with that.” She got out. I took a deep breath and followed.
I put on my big girl pants, we walked in and I officially attended my first blogging event.
I started this blog over five years ago and yet if you meet me, I probably won’t tell you I write a blog. It’s not because I am embarrassed or weird about my blog. I love blogging and the culmination it is of so many things for me. If you bring it up, I’m happy to talk blogging. But, the whole idea of blogging conferences and meet-ups is so intimidating to me. I’m reserved, quiet, a wall flower and far from the life of the party. I like small and deep, big and loud overwhelms me. In my head blogging events are filled with fashionable girls with hand stitched business cards, smiles that light up the room and creativity literally oozing from them. I don’t have business cards (I should, I know) and my idea of being fashionable is when I put a necklace on with my tshirt. I love blogging and it is a big part of my life, but I also know it is just a chapter in my life. Blogging has come into my life and one day it will go out. All that to say, I’ve never attended a blogging event.
Well, the local girls at Prairie Hive organized a meet-up and my sister asked if I was going to go. I knew she’d go because she is fun and social and probably has customized mini-chalkboards for business cards. Okay she doesn’t, but Lesley you totally should. Add my info to them too while you’re at it and then I’ll be good. So, I decided to go. And I am so glad I did. Tulsa has some pretty amazing women writing an array of blogs. Crafters. Designers. Foodies. Photographers. Business Owners. And many more. I’m thankful I went. I met some new friends and now have a list of others I still want to get to talk to….so I guess I’ll be at the next meet-up. The ladies hosting outdid themselves with the setting, the decor, the food….the whole atmosphere was pretty inspiring. It was a great experience and I am grateful my sister sent the text asking me if I was going to go. She teaches me a lot.
Thank you Prairie Hive for planning, Retro Den for Hosting and Lick Your Lips Mini Donuts for the treats.
So, here I am at my first Blogger Meet-up….and naturally, I am the only one not looking at the camera. Strangely there was only one person taking pictures, so there is no good reason for me to be the odd girl out. I think I was admiring the check out display, because it was awesome.
And I was right – totally a group of cute, fashionable bloggers with creative business cards. 🙂
