random Friday

A whole lotta randomness today.

Thank you for your kind and funny comments about our pictures yesterday. You guys made me laugh, they were fun to read.

Today is just a photo dump from my dslr and my iPhone.

We got an official letter in the mail yesterday regarding our adoption. It really doesn’t mean anything other than the paperwork we mailed last week was not lost between here and Texas. But, after so many months of NO news…I’m celebrating any movement at all. We are waiting on an approval from the Department of Homeland Security. It would be so nice if we could jump into the fast lane from here on out.

In the last week, I’ve bought two different underwater covers for my phone. The first one –  well out of 30 pictures the one below was the only one I really liked. After that disappointing trial run, I ordered a different brand. I haven’t tested it yet, but I’ll let you know what I think of both later.

She covered herself with the doll blanket and the dolls with her blanket. And, she is not a fan of dolls that wear clothes.

FireCracker has a birthday coming up and I am working on her present. Benzie Bazaar sent me gorgeous felt in large sheets for my little project.

She’s not sleeping…just enjoying the breeze. She is getting really anxious for her sister to be here. She’s not playing with the boys much anymore. She just stays by my side. While I read or make things, she makes things for her sister. She’s got a pile of cut up paper pieces in her room waiting to give her sister. She is so ready for this wait to be over. She’s ready to play with someone other than me.

She challenged him to a race. He is such an great big brother to her. He’s the only boy in the house that she has given a special nickname.

Next week our youngest daughter turns one. I hate that she is in an orphanage. I hate that she is beginning another year without a family. I hate that she is there and we are here. I want my baby home on her birthday. But, that is not possible. Knowing how hard next weekend is going to be for me, I decided to throw myself into something positive. So, we are having a big ole’ birthday party for her with lots of friends and family. Instead of gifts for the birthday girl, we’ve asked everyone to bring diapers and undies to be given to babies and children in state custody. A few friends can’t make it to the party, so they have already dropped off gifts for vulnerable kids. Basic necessities. My heart is heavy for my daughter, but I smile at the future. I smile to walk past the growing pile of gifts for other children – in my girl’s honor.

This is FireCracker’s pouting pose. I see it about 5 times a day. It always comes after she asks the question, “You go get my sister now?” and I respond, “Not yet, but soon.” When the day finally comes I don’t imagine her crying to see me leave. I do picture her shoving me out the door and telling me to “Hurry Up!”.

The longing she is feeling both breaks me and brings me joy.

I hope you all have a great weekend. I’ll be starting my day tomorrow doing my second 5K – and will end the run a little like this:

Throw paint on me while I run and I might just start liking this running thing.
