painting & art with kids

I had GREAT intentions for doing fun art projects with the kids last week while the big boys were home for spring break. But then it rained. I didn’t want to take the four of them to the store for supplies in the rain. Eventually I picked up a canvas for each of them. We didn’t do the detailed projects I had in my head. We just painted. I wish we could leave paints and drying canvases out all the time. The sight of paints and colorful canvases just makes me happy. Sadly, we need our ‘art’ table to do stuff like eat. I’d rather have it full of paint than food, but I’m pretty sure Chris would not go for that idea.

Have you ever gone to the free Lowe’s Build and Grow classes on Saturday mornings? Such a great activity for young kids (more elementary aged than preschool). The work aprons the kids got are perfect for all kinds of creative projects. They are thick and look better with paint smears, as opposed to the adorable fabric kid’s cooking aprons that don’t look great with paint smears.
