i like the stories they tell {feet}
First, let me wish you a Happy Chinese New Year! We have all kinds of celebrating planned for today…and lion dance tonight!
This was my phone picture yesterday for my daily “I’m thankful for…” picture project:
When I looked at it in context of the other 21 pictures from 2012 so far, I realized there are four with feet. Here’s the other three:
I take a lot of feet pictures. I don’t necessarily like feet, but I do like the stories they tell. Just a simple image of something most of us take for granted can provide a glimpse into what my days look like.
The little feet that run around here…the stories they tell….I like to take pictures of feet.
In 2010, I wrote another post all about the little piggies in this house (click here to read it)
Here are some random ones I found on my computer:
Hello, baby boy pudge…oh I miss his squishy baby rolls.
I think a big part of why I like to photograph feet is there is nothing all that special or glamorous about them. Most of us have them. They tend to stink. Some are pretty wonky looking. Some are hairy. Some are cute and some are really not cute. They’re just plain ole’ feet. But, for most of us they tell our stories. They take us where we go. They keep us when we stay. While I want my feet to swing wildly in the air every now and then, I also want them grounded. More than I want to travel the world or go to exotic places…I want them tromping in the grass in an overgrown field with those I love. These days, I’m choosing cowboy boots in the country surrounded by the deepest kind of joys.
(my almost 8 year old took the photo above…he is starting to understand my photo instructions more than his daddy does 🙂 )
