I got to get together with some friends (my church small group) for a bit of crafting. I spent the week before looking at my pinterest boards, trying to figure out what to make. I have too many projects pinned. It was overwhelming trying to pick one. I ended up just taking a bag of my favorite fabric remnants and hoped to leave with something fun. I would have been happy just to sit with friends and chat all morning, but keeping my hands busy making stuff made it even sweeter.
We met at our friend Ginny’s design house, House of Hathorn. She is amazingly talented with a sewing machine (like my mom). She taught us a few tips. She does sewing lessons, if you are local and would like her information – shoot me an email.
I made a new pillow cover and a couple little scrap fabric buntings.
I brought my pillow home and a certain little man curled up on it. Cutie patootie.
I was still in the pillow making mood the next day, so I attempted another one. Sewing at Ginny’s is so much easier than fighting for table space with 2 little RISK playing boys.
For my pillows I used a thrifted quilt top, a vintage table cloth, vintage sheet & a vintage pillow case. The quilt top has holes in it, so I’ve cut the good areas for all sorts of little projects. The table cloth was a couple of dollars and had several stains. I’ve used it for my iphone cover and my ipad cover too.
I tried getting another picture with both pillows, but a different boy. He wasn’t so apt to pose.
Then this little guy stole the pillows for his own use.
And then my pretty little crafting time was over…FireCracker had decided to empty out all the puzzle bags and dance on the pieces.
It would be really, really nice to have a studio or office or room or closet or something to craft in that was all mine ~ maybe someday. For now, I’ll craft among the games & puzzles, messes & plastic cups….and little laughs.
