The beginning of our hikes {Crested Butte}
Oops…forgot to schedule this to post last night. Told you I was out of my routine!
Eventually we arrived in Crested Butte, Colorado. We got to spend a couple of days with Chris’ sister and her family. Between us there are 5 boys all a year apart in age. They have so much fun together, my boys are already missing them. We spent a good amount of time hiking. I know hiking with a 1, 3, 5 & 7 year old may not appeal to many. Chris & I love being in the great outdoors and it is important to us that our kids grow up loving it too.
My oldest was the leader of the pack. I was so proud watching him climb hard trails with excitement. He had his fair share of tumbles and banged up knees, but he loves an adventure.
She preferred to hike on her own over being carried. We’ve been told to expect her to limp for a full year…the limp is already getting hard to notice.
We took a chairlift to the top of Mt. Crested Butte and hiked down the ski runs. At the top we attempted a little family pic….a semi-cooperative family pic. I think part of why I like this one so much is the fact that my 5 year old was so uncooperative. Yep, I hiked with a hardy three year old on my back half the time. It’s a whole different kind of extreme workout.
It took a few hours before we got to a lower chairlift to take us back to the very bottom. LONG hikes with six kids under the age of 7 is an experience for sure….BUT totally worth the tears and grumpy faces that some times popped up.
Her favorite place to take a nap on the trip was her in her daddy’s arms (usually covered from the sun, but I uncovered her for a pic)
My Butterfly Whisperer (formerly known as the Goat Whisperer) caught a steady flow of his flying friends.
For those of you growing tired of Colorado vacation pictures….come back on Monday….I took way too many pictures!
