I’m in the middle of an Oreo Sandwich - Ashley Ann Campbell

I’m in the middle of an Oreo Sandwich

This post might seem like I am playing a late April Fools joke, but in fact I am not. Pinch me…this post is real!

So not that long ago I mentioned a few publications coming out that I was excited for their release. It has been a fun week in my mailbox. First arrived Pregnancy & Newborn magazine. I was asked to contribute a few of my favorite photography tips. The tips are geared towards new moms regardless of if they own a dslr or a simple point & shoot. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to help others learn the basics of photography. Yes, I am still hoping to get that online SnapShops going (The Cast slowed me down!). So here is a glimpse….so fun!

Summer Cottage was sent to me during our little jaunt in the hospital. The color combination on the cover is one of my favorites. If you check out my pinterest boards you will see a lot of things that look very similar to this cover. No, I am not in this magazine.

However, the publishers that make Summer Cottage just released Fresh Style….and they asked to do a little feature on me. I’ve had projects and tips in magazines, but never something just featuring random ole’ me. I wasn’t sure what to expect.

The cover alone made excited, then I began thumbing the pages. First, let me say…there is cover to cover inspiration.

A GREAT magazine! I came to this page:

3 ingenious artisans whose crafty ways offer inspiration for do-it-yourselfers….who are these ladies?

What?! I didn’t do any Photoshop action to add myself to that page. Amy Butler! Heather Bailey!…..and my face on the same page. Surely not?! Then I kept flipping pages. I am in an Oreo Sandwich with Amy Butler & Heather Bailey! Yes, the Amy whose fabric covers all of FireCracker’s nursery. Yes, the Heather Bailey whose fabric I used on my very first dress…the one FireCracker wore home from the hospital. I know this is very not professional. I should be all “I was recently featured in a magazine with fellow artists Amy Butler & Heather Bailey”….well, you all know that I’m not that professional.

Look at Amy all gorgeous….and Heather totally stunning….and me in the middle. I’m still waiting for the editors to tell me they sent me the wrong copy!

Shortly after getting the magazine in the mail I stopped by my local fabric shop to pick up some material for the playroom. Sadly, they don’t carry Heather’s fabric. They do carry Amy’s. I had my Love Bliss Bouquet fabric by Amy to match. One of the girls in the shop mentioned how much she liked it. I wanted to say, “Yeah, I love Amy. She is my neighbor. On the other side lives Heather Bailey.” They would have then kindly escorted the crazy lady out of the fabric shop!

Like I said, the magazine is amazing. Karen, who wrote the article on me did a wonderful job. She makes me look so much cooler than I am. After reading it I want to meet that Mother of Invention Ashley Ann Campbell! If you’d like a copy you can order it here. I’m not sure which stores sell it.

This week was crazy in regards to blog related things for me. The magazines were a fun surprise and my Facebook page reached 5,000 likes. I thought it would be fun to do something to celebrate. You’ve been hearing me rave about Pinterest. Well, I saw over on How Does She a Pinterest invite giveaway….genius idea. I don’t have the capacity to send out invites to everyone, but I am going to send 10 invites to random winners!

Here is a peek at some of my Pinterest boards.

Pinterest allows you to “pin” things you find online, much like “bookmarking” other than it is a visual directory and you can create all kinds of categories. You can also see what others are pinning to their boards and do searches like “kids room”. It has helped me really define my style. After pinning randomly for a while it became obvious just looking at my boards what things I am drawn towards. You can only join Pinterest by invite (you can request an invite from the site, but I hear the wait is long).

So….thank you for following my blog!
