Day 15 {sights around her room} - Ashley Ann Campbell

Day 15 {sights around her room}

My boys come up to visit several times a week – it makes both girls in this family very happy.

I’ve worn the same pair of jeans nearly every day we’ve been here. She’s worn the same shirt nearly every day too. I do wash them down the hall, but there’s nothing like a good pair of jeans and a soft t-shirt 🙂

Our friends and family have gone above and beyond in supporting us during this stay. What has surprised me has been how much my ‘online community’ has supported us. Design*Sponge sent the most beautiful tulips, which being fairly new to the team was such a kind surprise for me. My friend Kim brought me a gardenia tree (love that). It smells awesome, but you know you’ve been in the hospital too long when a tree is growing in your room!

Her crib is also looking like an etsy treasury thanks to my friends RachelJen, Anna & Nori!

I hate she is in a cast and I debated sharing much about it here, but if I hadn’t I would have missed out some pretty cool things. Right after we got here a friend brought her bandaids from his 2 year old daughter. How sweet is that?! In her little head she understood her friend has a boo boo and she sent a Hello Kitty bandaid to help it feel better. We’ve heard from several friends how their kids have responded to seeing FireCracker in the hospital. It is a beautiful thing to hear and see toddlers & young children discover ways to bring a smile to my daughter.

Last week I read this post and the next day Chris brought a package of Potato heads and a cute balloon card to the hospital. Thank you sweet Charlotte!

If flowers, blankets, dolls, toys, candy & cards weren’t enough….she got a visit from Oklahoma ‘princesses’. Since we were here over Easter weekend there were a lot of special visitors filling the hallways. I was outside on the playground with the boys, but Chris tells me she was quite happy with her beautiful guests.4.25.11-07

She wasn’t as happy with the beautiful crown. I guess Wonder Woman doesn’t do tiaras.

4.25.11-08

Easter morning we snuggled in her crib, watching our church service online and playing with Mr. Potato head. I set the camera on the counter and in my head was making a pleasant face for this picture. When I downloaded it I realized how sad I look.  Despite all we’ve been given and all that I am truly thankful for…I’m still sad. Yes, we’ll leave (hopefully one day this week). Yes, it could be so much worse. Yes, we are blessed. But, yes, I am still sad.

4.25.11-09

Even in the sadness there is sweetness. My independent spitfire little girl who at home never let me cuddle her to sleep now wants me as close as humanly possible to her to fall asleep. Her little arms wrapped around my neck and warm breath on my cheek are things I will take with me long after we leave.
