DIY {Cork/Dry Erase Board & Cork ‘clipboard’}

A little customized cork/dry erase board….I started with a basic IKEA trivet. Then cut some scrapbooking paper, ribbon, & paper doilies into my design. After gluing the doilies to the paper I covered it in clear laminate….this allows for it to be used as a dry erase board as well. I think these would be super cute gifts, if anyone local is headed to IKEA please pick me up some more trivets! You could do the same with cork tiles or glue 2 pieces of cork flooring together and cut them down to size.

After the paper was laminated I hot glued it to the trivet, then hot glued the ribbon to the trivet as well.1109corkdry-02

TaDa…a cute little corkboard with a spot for dry erase notes…1109corkdry-031109corkdry-04

If you want a similar project that takes much less time and skill…another way to customize a trivet is using letters, a clothespin & hot glue:

I found a pack of letters intended for dividing a notebook up for $.50. I picked the phrase: “Oh happy day” and glued my letters down. I then glued a covered clothespin and I ended up with a cute little memo station.
