1009quilt-02

We have a lot of beautiful quilts in our home….none of which I made. My Grandmas and my Aunt Sandy are phenomenal quilters. Each of my kids has several quilts created specifically for them. They will be treasured heirlooms for generations to come. I recently acquired my mom’s old sewing machine and have been playing around with it. Over the last few months I have had the urge to make a very simple quilt. It seems like a daunting process, but nonetheless I am going to tackle it. Any day now I should be recieving the fabric I won and I wasn’t sure what I would be making with it. I now know! A bit back I came across these pictures at Craft Hope (which I found via made)…1009crafthope-111009crafthope-21

I’ve been doing some work with Little Dresses for Africa and you might remember this party I had for them. Well I have been looking at other things I could do related to craftivism and was estatic to find Craft Hope. “Craft Hope is a faith-based, love inspired project designed to share handmade crafts with those less fortunate.  It is our hope to combine our love for crafting and desire to help others into a project to make a difference around the world. (quote from website)”

Craft Hope has done several projects….sock monkeys for a preschool burn camp, dolls for an orphanage, blankets, toys, burp cloths…..and more. The newest project was just announced. It will be creating quilts for homeless children in Michigan. I am excited to participate. You can find more information by visiting the Craft Hope blog. I’ll keep you updated on my quilt! If you participate in this project please let me know. I would REALLY love to hear how many of you read this blog and then go on to do something! Remember, I’ve never quilted before either!
