Crayon Relief Painting
Biggest and I played around with crayons and watercolor paint. If you haven’t done this before it is pretty fun for kids. Let you kids color a picture with crayons first, then paint over it with watercolor (lots of water). The wax in the crayon resists the paint – he thought that was pretty cool. For older kids you can buy nicer pastels (Hobby Lobby) and good watercolors instead of the cheap ‘o stuff. I have a friend who created a beautiful drawing/painting for her kitchen using this technique…maybe one day I’ll do that instead of my oh-so-cute stick drawing featured here.
