Rett’s first camping trip

We had a great time camping…it was a little hot though. I’m hoping November isn’t too cold and we can do it again before winter. Rett seemed to enjoy himself until about 1:00am, at which he decided to wake up about once an hour. The boys enjoyed the lake – I don’t do lake water.

Here’s Everett showing off his abs while his brothers helped set up the tent.

So excited to be able to throw rocks in the water without hearing me say “stop throwing rocks Hudson”

Corbett has been our fisherman since about the time he could walk

Everett laying down for his first nap in the tent – took awhile to get him to lay down :)

One of the best parts of camping with kids…they passed out and slept for over 12 hours the next night

meg duerksen - well…maybe camping isn’t so scary after all.
i fear it.
we use to go with friends once a year and it would ALWAYS rain no matter when we went. it was miserable. i think we should try again…but i really am scared.
but i see that you survived. and it doesn’t always rain.

your boys are so cute! full of life!

Denise - FUN!!! ADORABLE!!!

Lauren - Glad we had another memorable camping trip. Hope we get to again next year. Love you guys!

bopha - your boys are so adorable, everett is getting so big, and i mean big :)

Carrie Sowell - You’re such a brave mom! Maybe that’s why God didn’t load me down with boys. I don’t think I could ever suck it up and go camping! I’m a “hotel” girl!! It looks like they had fun though and oh, what memories you’re making with them!

The sleeping for 12 hours would be my favorite part too!!

Jeannette Swan - Priceless! I’m so jealous of your awesome pictures – my goal – someday – to take pictures 1/2 as good as yours!

Angie Brooks - We want to go camping with you guys…how much fun! I can’t get over Everett… He reminds me of Hudson. So cute.

Kale {3 weeks}

While looking at this session I told Chris it is a good thing we want more kids. I think I am going to have to quit photographing newborns when our family is complete – all these babies are too cute. This little guy quietly went back and forth between being awake and sleeping. Despite how much I moved him around he never made a peep. I often wonder what my clients think when I look around their beautiful homes and then choose to do the whole session in a random spot like the entry way for this one….

Chris picked this picture for the post…he loved that Kale was covering his face :)

Shannon Phillips - What a handsome little guy. Yea for baby boys! Ash, amazing job as usual. The lighting in these is fantastic.

angela - WOW!!! Didn’t know what to expect because we took these in our entry way floor, but they are AWESOME!!! Thank you so much for sharing your wondeful talent with our family.

jesse - Beautiful!

Sam Dickey - He is adorable!! He looks just like you David!!

Nan & Steve - He is cute as a button! Best of luck!! :-)

Jeannette Swan - I need to stop looking at the newborn picks – it makes me really want another one – but I have to remind myself – they grow up!! This one is precious.

Happy Friday!

Yeah…the work week is over and the weekend is beginning. Corbett and Hudson both went camping by the time they were 6 months old, so this weekend we are introducing Everett to the wonderful world of tent sleeping, campfires and the quietness of nature (well not that quiet considering Corb and Hud will be there too). Well not to post without a picture…Rett is enjoying cereal. However, between nearly every bite he makes this face…

melanie - I’m sure when he’s older he’ll love that you always have a camera ready to capture those faces! Enjoy your weekend together!

denise lopez - FUNNY–CUTE–ADORABLE! you know this picture says to me–we are going camping??? Just kidding. What a fun family you are. While you are camping in the great outdoors, I will be camping in the excursion with my four kiddos for our 8 hour trip to Jackson this afternoon! By the time my kids were all 6 months they had experienced at least an 8 hour road trip one way! Have fun!

Jeannette Swan - How adorable!!! We are not campers, but last weekend Kelly bought a tent and he and the boys put it up in the backyard and slept out there 2 nights in a row – they loved it!!

DIY {misc. projects}

My photography schedule has been so slammed lately I haven’t been able to post many fun projects…so I combined some I previously saw online. They are in my “to make” file….which probably won’t happen until Nov. when things slow down. I am thinking of trying to do a post like this every so often, but I don’t want to unless there is an interest. So…if you would enjoy something like this more often, leave me a comment (even you lurkers that never comment). Thanks!

How About Orange’s Fabric Decals for walls, doors, you name it

BluePrint’s super cute Bangle Bag made from scarves and bangles…so easy

Design Sponge’s Birdie Serving tray and Wood Clock – I bought a wood burning tool for these

My Lifetime’s Retro Bottle Cap Clock – this one is seriously cute

Inspired Idea’s Making Memory Candles – great for old pictures

If only there were more hours in the day to make all these. I am thinking of doing some for Christmas gifts, but my taste is sometimes too ‘out there’ for some…we’ll see. I always second guess making stuff for friends – ya know don’t want to be that awkward friend that gives something that others feel obligated to keep or put out when I stop by! :)

Lauren - I did the fabric decals for Addy’s door. It turned out really well. I just need to revamp my design. It was super easy too.

sheridan - I love it! DIY is awesome and I would love more! I have files on my computer of diy stuff, crafts?projects w/ my boys, and recipes that I keep adding to in hopes of one day starting to make a dint in them. Now I’ll have more to add thanks to you!

Jessica Schaffner - Please post more stuff like this! I will be making a lot of christmas gifts this year and I love these kind of ideas!

meg duerksen - my favorite was the candle holders! gorgeous.
i know exactly what you mean about giving hand made gifts.
it has to be for just the right person you know? you really put yourself out there if you give something hand made.
these are all very fun projects!

Denise - you aren’t too out there for me–please feel free to make me whatever you want for Christmas! (o: Had fun eating lunch with you today–let’s do that again!

melanie - I love it when you make stuff for your friends! I just wish I were organized, crafty, and talented enough to be able to return the favor!

Ang - I love this post. The wall decals are my favorite.

Jamie - My goal this Christmas is to do everything handmade/homemade, so all these ideas are perfect. Thanks for sharing and keep them coming!

Leanne - Yes! I love stuff like this!!!!

Nicholas {a couple of weeks}

Another handsome baby boy! This little guy was so content and peaceful for the whole session…even with big sisters smothering him in kisses. Funny how hard it is to get big brothers to kiss on babies and how easy it is to get big sisters to do it….

Jesse - What a beautiful baby! Beautiful photos!

katherine - Oh Ashley, they’re beautiful!!! I’m so thrilled and can NOT wait to see the rest! You are a wonderful photographer! Thank you so much! Woo hoo!

meg duerksen - these are so sweet.
i want another baby! just so i can kiss on those toes…

megan - seriously…i don’t know if I can fight off the “urge” if you keep posting pics like this! ;)

Lesley - wow! these pictures are amazing, ash! what a beautiful baby! every single part of that last shot is just beautiful.

heather - AMAZING! these pics are beautiful!

DIY {yearbookyourself.com}

Sorry for the blog issues earlier today….I think I got that cleared up….

My sister did this on her blog and it cracked me up…I am easily entertained. After the boys went to bed, I convinced Chris to do this with me. The sad reality to these pictures is the only haircut I haven’t had is the first one.

POST UPDATE: My sister pointed out how much we look alike on these, so I had to share. I am 2 years older….

Guess who turned 6 months over the weekend?! We introduced him to cereal and don’t be surprised if next time you see me I weigh 40lbs. Preparing food, feeding, & cleaning for a 6 month old, 2 yr old & 4 yr old is a neverending task! Yesterday I ate Chick-fil-A in my closet just so I could get something down without having to share it or be interrupted!

Courtney Connelly - The yearbook pictures are great!

Shanalea - I am so laughing about the closet thing. I often go into my bedroom or hide what I am eating so I don’t ahve to share.

Emily Lusk - I am also cracking up at the thought of you eating your lunch in your closet! :) I have often hidden what I am eating from Brody so that he does not want some… I have not gone in my closet yet, but I am sure one day I will!!! :)

bopha - That is so funny, there are really some things that i’m just not looking forward to. lincoln is in the “i need mommy” every minute stage, so bathroom breaks are even refreshing.

Jeannette Swan - I know what you mean about preparing, feeding, cleaning – yikes – it is never ending! If I think Noble and Corban will fall asleep in the car, I will buckle them in and drive through somewhere before I pick the boys up from school just so I can eat something alone!! These are the times I really wish Panera or McAlisters or something with “real” food had a drive thru. I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t like to always have to share with my kids.

Jesse - Love the yearbook pics! So great! I can totally relate to hiding to eat! I have pulled that one a time or two!

Your little one will be running after his brother in no time! They just grow too fast!

Lesley - oh man! we really do look alike! open up two tabs, one with my pics and the other with yours and compare! the one with the glasses is crazy similar!

Lesley - wow! that’s nuts how much we look alike in the update shots!

melanie - I decided yesterday to wait until after the kids went down for a nap to eat lunch so I could eat in silence (and without sharing my food). Wouldn’t you know, Jacee didn’t go down until after 3, so I gave in and ate anyway…the whole time, she was saying, “have some please, mommy?”

The Arterberry’s {family session}

It is funny how so much of a child’s personality is wrapped up in age…these 3 beautiful kids are nearly the exact ages of my boys. It was fun for me to see how similar they were to my kids, while totally different at the same time. They have such a beautiful family….

Jesse - What a cute family! Makes me feel like fall with their cozy color choices!

Kenna S - I love this session! These are some of our dear friends from church. I am so glad that they were able to have you capture their family in such a beautiful way. This session screams Fall! Great job!

Aiden {2 weeks}

This tiny 2 week old is so STRONG…he was lifting that little head of his and looking all around. As I looked at some of the pictures from his session, I just love the black & white ones so I mainly posted those this time. Aiden’s mom and I were teammates (gymnastics) way back in the day….like nearly 2 decades ago!

melanie - Sweet pictures. I can’t believe I’m going to have a baby soon and you’re not around this time! I loved having you there when Dawson was born!

megan - so cute…makes me think I might want another one…hmmmm????

Jeannette Swan - How beautiful – pics like this make me want another one too – but I have to be realistic!!

Mrs. Franke - Ash, you never ceese to amaze me! I am so happy that I am lucky enough to get to see your work. You truly capture the emotions of a moment as well and an amazing picture well done!

Anderson {1 1/2 years}

It has been a year since I last saw Anderson…he’s still got the blondest hair and eyelashes I have ever seen! He wasn’t too fond of me at first, but warmed up a bit. Can’t blame him – I sure wouldn’t want someone chasing me and sticking a camera in my face! He really has such a sweet and calm little personality, but still very much all boy.

His mom handed him a water bottle for a little entertainment…cutie.

The Edwards {family session}

This session was scheduled for last Saturday night…the same time the storms from Hurricane Ike were scheduled to arrive in Tulsa. I was pretty sure we’d have to reschedule, but we played it by ear moving the session up. I left my house, where it was raining and dark, and arrived downtown to perfect overcast skies and not a sprinkle. Within minutes of finishing the session the rain began! I love this first picture of the girls…most parents opt for park settings with this age, but I think the urban location worked great.

I love these baby legs! One day they will look like her big sister’s, but right now…how cute!!
